Cover Reveal: Date With A Rockstar

I'm very excited to reveal the cover for my friend and critique partner, Sarah Gagnon's newest book DATE WITH A ROCKSTAR. Sarah has the wonderful ability to detect plot holes and takes down stray commas like a ninja.

Without further ado, here's DATE WITH A ROCKSTAR:

Title: Date With a Rockstar

Author: Sarah Gagnon

Release Date: June 2015

Publisher: Spencer Hill Contemporary

Synopsis: Only one girl will win the cash prize...and a chance at love with Jeremy Bane.

Monet isn’t just another lust-struck teenager trying to win the heart of Rock God Jeremy Bane--she needs the prize money from his new reality show to cure her illness.

Monet has Fluxem, a contagious disease that's spread through saliva. It's completely curable if you have enough money, which she and her single mother don't. Now that she's on the show, Monet has to work harder to keep her Fluxem hidden. She only has to keep the secret long enough to woo Jeremy Bane so he picks her as the winner. She doesn't even care about the love part; the prize alone will change her life.

But the real Jeremy Bane is nothing like she imagined. Monet finds herself fighting against feelings that make her want to give in to her attraction and Jeremy's attempts for a kiss. The further she goes in the competition, the more impossible it becomes to resist him--and when the producers turn the tables and start digging up dirt on the contestants, Monet fears her secret will be revealed before she's ready and ruin everything.

The only way to win Jeremy's heart is to tell him the truth, but confessing her disease could cost her the competition, the prize money, and him.

Mala LaCroix has spent her whole life trying to escape her destiny. As the last in a long line of “witch women,” she rejects the notion of spirits and hoodoo and instead does her best to blend in. But when she finds a dead body floating in the bayou behind her house, Mala taps into powers she never knew she had. She’s haunted by visions of the dead girl, demanding justice and vengeance.

Landry Prince has always had a crush on Mala, but when Mala discovers his sister, murdered and marked in some sort of Satanic ritual, he starts to wonder if all the rumors about the LaCroix family are true. Yet after Mala uses her connection to the spirit world to identify his sister’s killer, he starts to form his own bond to her . . . a very physical one. As they move closer to each other and closer to the truth, Mala and Landry must risk everything—their families, their love, and even their lives.

Angie Sandro was born at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. Within six weeks, she began the first of eleven relocations throughout the United States, Spain, and Guam before the age of eighteen.

Friends were left behind. The only constants in her life were her family and the books she shipped wherever she went. Traveling the world inspired her imagination and allowed her to create her own imaginary friends. Visits to her father's family in Louisiana inspired this story.

Angie now lives in Northern California with her husband, two children, and an overweight Labrador

GUTGAA Meet and Greet

Howdy fellow GUTGAAs.
I'm excited to join in the festivities and meet other writers. Deana Barnhart has done an amazing job with this. Happy blog hopping!

On to the questions:

*      Where do you write?
I mostly write at my computer desk. If the weather is nice and I’m having a plot problem, then I’ll go outside with pen and paper.

*      Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see?
My cat staring at her treat container. I really need to find a better place for that.

*      Favorite time to write?
Early mornings. Sometimes, I’ll start writing at 3:30 or 4 in the morning. I love the silence.

*      Drink of choice while writing?
My favorite drink is a strong cup of coffee.

*      When writing, do you listen to music or do you need complete silence?
It depends. I like writing in silence, but music inspires me. If I’m writing a difficult scene, I’ll play a song that reflects the scene. I love Pandora.

*      What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and where did you find it?
My latest manuscript is a blend of Space Western and Mystery. Joss Whedon’s Firefly TV series inspired me, as well as Anne McCaffrey’s Pern series. I still can’t believe she died last year. I’ve read her works for almost 30 years.

*      What's your most valuable writing tip?
To quote Galaxy Quest, “Never give up, never surrender!” I have an amazing circle of writing friends that constantly inspire me. They’re also fantastic at kicking my butt when I need it. Having that support is invaluable to me.

Cat's lessons

I've been owned by my cat for seven years, and it's amazing the things I've learned from her. My latest lesson? Perseverance.

While revising my MS this week, I found myself confronted with a plot hole the size of Texas. Maybe the size of Texas and Oklahoma. When writing a list of suggestions, staring out the window, and a bowl of my favorite cereal didn't spark a revelation on how to fix it, I decided to take a break and harrass   play with my cat.

I placed several of her treats (or better known as cat crack) inside an empty paper towel tube. I read the idea on a vet's website, so I'm not totally sadistic.

She circled the tube, sniffing, growling, and nudging it for a few moments, before slapping the tube off the bed.  She got her treats, and I received more than a dirty look and a swishing tail. A lesson in perseverance. If something isn't working, figure out another solution.

Only the determined get the kitty treats.
